Let’s go off-roading with our Pocket Off-roader, the Suzuki Jimny JB74.

My son Caleb and I attended the first ever biggest gathering of Suzuki Jimnys in the Philippines.

I wanted to be a participant in this event and just have a good time with my son, Caleb. After meeting up at Shell Boso-boso, the pack of Jimnys went on about an hour drive to Camp Well River Valley. With only about ten minutes away to the main campsite, the event took us onto a detour from the usual route to camp. This is where the off-roading begins — a light trail as they dubbed it, but nothing about it was light to me. It wasn’t extreme — sure, but it wasn’t light as well. With Caleb up at the edge of his seat most of the time with all four river crossings, and both of us bouncing basically the whole time as we drove through those big rocks along the river. It was a fun experience for both of us to say the least.

After the off-roading part, we were greeted with a sumptuous lunch of binalot sa dahon ng saging adobo, lechon for everyone to feast on and fresh coconuts for our drinks. It rained during lunch, but it was one that’s welcome so as to cool-off the heat that day. Even that wasn’t enough, but regardless of the scorching heat we all took shelter from our tents as we listened to Joel Pedro from Overland Kings take the stage and talk about Overlanding in the Philippines. Great display of overlanding gears as well by Overland Kings, Caleb enjoyed their booth by the river.

At night it was just business as usual for me at camp. Started a campfire by the tent to prepare for our favorite camp food of liempo for myself, and Caleb’s chicken inasal. Temperature that night as camp wasn’t bad, not too humid yet not too cold as well. Needed to have the fan running with Caleb and I in the tent for a much comfortable sleep.

The next day, everyone was very much excited for the raffle of giveaways. We managed to take home a side awning. Too bad I already have one myself so, I’m not sure what to do with it really.

I’m no stranger to this campsite, this being my fourth trip to Camp Well in April of this year — yes, four times just in one month and I look forward to going back soon. The event took place on April 29 — yes a couple of months back — edit took a long while to come together with this one.
