New 2023 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Reveals Advantages of Larger Design

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door, produced by New Delhi-based Maruti Suzuki, has finally been unveiled after years of anticipation. The model made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in India and boasts a spacious interior cabin thanks to its new rear doors. In comparison to the 3-Door version, the 5-Door model is significantly larger with dimensions of 3,985 mm in length, 2,590 mm in wheelbase, 1,645 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height. The exterior design remains true to the original Jimny with its boxy styling and off-road tires, but now features a black roof for contrast. The interior is largely unchanged from the previous model, but now includes a rear bench that can seat up to three passengers and a larger cargo capacity. The 5-Door is equipped with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter gasoline engine, a nine-inch infotainment system, and various safety features. It will be available for purchase in India starting May and will later expand to other markets such as Africa, Australia, and Latin America.

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is equipped with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter gasoline engine that generates 105 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 99 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 RPM. The engine is connected to a four-wheel-drive system, and drivers can choose between a five-speed manual or a four-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The Jimny 5-Door also offers multiple off-road modes, such as 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low, allowing for optimal performance with its 36-degree approach angle, 24-degree breakover angle, 50-degree departure angle, and 210-mm ground clearance. Maruti Suzuki will be assembling the Jimny 5-Door at the Gurugram plant and is currently accepting orders in India, with a release date of May. The vehicle will also be available in other markets, including Africa, Australia, and Latin America.
