The Suzuki Jimny has been around for decades but the latest model has won the hearts and minds of buyers that want off-road ability without off-road running costs and size. Cars like the Land Rover Defender and Range Rover, not to mention the Toyota Land Cruiser have built a reputation on being rugged 4×4’s that can go anywhere, but does this like Suzuki prove that you can do it all with the footprint of a Mini Cooper?
In this review of the Suzuki Jimny, we cover what it is like both on road and off road. We also speak to an owner so that potential buyers know what to expect when buying one. Today you can only purchase the commercial version of the Jimny due to emissions laws, but it would certainly be a great dog car if you did get a new commercial version.
One thing to keep in mind when searching for a Jimny in the UK, Europe, Canada, or other areas of the world is that although the original purchase price made these a small bargain, used values have increased to above the new sale price. This is thanks to higher demand than supply and doesn’t look like it will change any time soon.
The model tested is the all-grip 2020 Suzuki Jimny, this should be the same as the 2019 and 2021 for most territories, although the 2022 models will likely be commercial only in most markets.
